Hello! I am new to the Coin World but recently got curious and not even sure if I am posting this in the right section so admins please remove if so. I ran across this 1982 penny and from what I have read, the pennies of this year were changed mid year with the copper pennies weighing in at 3.11 and the zinc pennies weighing in at 2.5. The penny shown in the picture does in fact weigh 3.11 and has what I have learned to be the "small date" and could be potentially valuable. Can anyone take a look and give me your thoughts? Anyone familiar with this coin?
So unfortunately, your coin is actually a Large date. If you look at the downstroke of the 2, the straight line is for LD. A curvy line would be the small date. (I wish we could change the name of these, so it would be easier for folks to know what to look for.)
