By the way, the Boomerang fighter aircraft (depicted on the coin), stood no chance against the far superior Japanese Zero fighter. When the Zeros encountered them over New Guinea, they were all shot down in very short order. Whatever few Boomerangs that were lucky enough not to see combat against the Japanese, were very quickly withdrawn from service.

All replaced by P-40's as they became available, and they weren't much better for Australian needs.
