Found this Mass. quarter when searching. Part of the state has been smashed flat. The coin is otherwise in remarkable shape. Is this the result of a deteriorated die or some other complication. I was thinking grease error, but I really do not see any other indicators of such on the rest of the coin. As always, thanks in advance, and I hope you are all healthy.
Pics are of coin in question, close-ups, and similar coin (to compare light effects).
Looks like grease filled area of the die in the center of the coin. No premium for this. When there is a large percentage of Grease Fill, then they get interesting to collectors. 80-99% of the devices missing.
