Is There A Silver Sacagawea?

A friend found a "silvery" colored one metal detecting. The one I found had turned black not silver after being in the ground. Silver stays as shiny as the day it went into the ground as long as it isn't near something acidic. He hasn't weighed it but wanted to know if anyone was aware of one?

Nope, no silver Sacagaweas. However, 12 22kt gold Sacagaweas exist and were carried aboard the space shuttle Columbia in the summer of 1999. None have ever been in private hands and they currently reside at Ft. Knox, probably right next to the 1933 Double Eagles

Even if the top layer strips off, it should still yellow-red because the metal on top is mainly copper

I'd guess that this coin was plated by a third party seller.

I read somewhere that there were some 2000 year sac's originally made in the begining of there production that were steel they were called experimental planchets !
