That Coin Dude Pillar of the Community United States 1427 Posts	Posted 03/23/2020 03:15 am I have this dime with a weird collar error that I first thought was a die clash, but doesn't have the reeding that is expected of one. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/23/2020 11:10 pm It was when the coin was struck (not flattened) was fin on that area. When the machine is getting sloppy, the die stroke was tilted a bit before the strike creating a fin. What does a fin look like? The fin is usually flatten when the coins are roll up and crimped into the roll. So they flatten easily. If the fin was present, it would be a keeper, but it is flattened over. But at least now you know what they are. Report this Post to the Staff
