My knowledge of Byzantine coinage is very limited. I would greatly appreciate your input on the coin imaged below which came from a lot of mostly modern coins.
It appears to be similar to circa 829 CE Michael II and Theophilus AE follis, but it differs in its markings (cross rather than theta below M). Also, the other follis of this period I found in catalogs/auction records are smaller in diameter and weight than this piece.
