I found this 1969S 1C in a coin roll. It weighs 2.10 grams. What kind of minting error is this?

Looks like damage to me, as if something was eating away at the coin. Possibly acid or heating?

Acid dipped. Looks like he spent sometime in Chemistry class and spent the same day in a vending machine to by a soda for dime. (Can or bottle)

At least tapered planchet gives me somewhere else to look. The acid theory does not hold up to the scientist in me who know how hard it would be to get acid to not effect the center of the reverse.

Acid eats the metal off evenly. It doesn't concentrate one area, it affects all areas.
