This dime was looks and feels like it was never reeded. The rim near the date is missing as well. Any idea what happened to this dime?

If you look at the edges, you can see how uneven the surfaces are. Clear evidence of abrasion - possibly from running through a dryer or from being intentionally sanded (when I was a kid, I sanded the reeding off a couple quarters because I thought it looked cool. Came out exactly like this). Whatever the cause, 100% post mint damage.

Yes could be an early-stage Dryer Coin, but regardless the lack of reeds is damage not a mint error.
