Hey everyone, I came across this nickel today. There is definitely one strike through...maybe a wire or similar object but what's going on with the missing legend? It doesn't make sense to be a strike through as it is on both sides. The AD of Canada is caved in and still plated which suggests to me the planchet was incomplete. The coin weighs 4.38g which is average for this stage of wear though. Any Ideas?

Struck on a flawed planchet (for the top of the coin), with a struck-through wire... but the stuff we see on the rim by O of GEORGIVS is circulation damage.

Amazing that an error this large, was well circulated.

I agree SPP, it should have been picked long before it got this far gone. Pity. Still a keeper.
