Just wondering if this is some crazy MD or something I should keep. There is no other evidence of MD on the obverse or reverse. Anybody have any clues?

That is a high bounce of the die after the strike. Note it only affect the devices that are the highest. Everything below the blow was not affected. So it is Machine Doubling with a bounce.
