I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure this one out. Obvious scooped-out area on the reverse, with a raised area on the rim. On the reverse, it's higher than the rest of the rim; on the obverse, there is a thin layer of metal over-lapping the rim.
The side view shows that there was a collar die used, and on one image, there is a downward, curving part that looks like another coin had previously struck it.

As the narrator on "The Curse of Oak Island" always says, could it be; that this one got in between the die and another planchet when it was a blank, got misshapen, and then was the next coin struck and the collar die pushed the extended area back to normal size but some went up and around the collar and dies ?

Just think, maybe the coin that caused the indent is still out there, but the chances of pairing them up again after 57 years would be kind of low.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

It looks like an indent strike from another blank planchet, but the weird outline doesn't quite line up...

I think the blank planchet rim causes the warping on the struck coin when the hammer die comes down...I have a number of coins like this with the same warped rim

I suspect that this error is of standard weight, but I think it should be confirmed.

It's a bit light at 3.06 grams.

Is it possible that the loss in weight be equal to the loss of weight in gouged out metal?

It is possible that the planchet was damaged before striking.

The area could not have been scooped out after minting. The leaf tips would not be down into it, and there is no sign of the slightest scrape or scratch in the depression. The raised part of the rim wouldn't have the collar die impression if damaged after minting and would show damage to the rim - look how smooth it is inside and outside.
Have a look at the obverse. It's a virtually uncirculated coin with no hint of damage. Also check the obverse rim - not exactly what you would see on a normal 1962 cent - railroad and off-centre a bit, with overlapped metal.
