Dad:- Gouge = PMD,
daughter:- maybe a planchet lamination.

Headshot -not PMD - the E-X are undamaged and are raised inside the depression; no scratches or gouges on them. The headline goes down into the impression; it would be scraped out or non-existent if the metal had been gouged out after minting.

Both are lamination flaws. Neither is damage

Either a delamination or a planchet flaw

There is a lamination crack from the rim to the king's head, between the depression and ET. It's hard to see in the photos and runs into the two spots in the king's hair. The reverse of the coin has no sign of any damage or scrapes.

Cause of deaths changed to delamination - what a way to go - pulled apart layer by layer .
