Hi,

I have a 2001D dime that weighs >2.1g. I have weighed it multiple times and it's either 2.0 or 2.1g. What could this error be?

About 16% under weight.
I would say it's struck on a rolled thin dime stock.

Nice find! Often times the weight reduction isn't too significant, but yours seems to have a decent weight loss.

Partial collar?
2001-D-Dime-Error-2.1grams
On a partial collar on a reed edge coin, the area without the reeds would be wider on that area and where the reed area is it would been normal size of a dime there. (Out of the collar allows the metal to flow over the top/bottom of the collar)

VERY slightly underweight planchet, not enough to be worth a premium. Does NOT look like a partial collar strike, looks like the common weak strike edge showing bevels from the reeds to the rim. I would NOT consider this to be an error coin.
