A couple months ago I got Five rolls of pennies from our local grocery store and they've been sitting around till yesterday I decided to pop them open, I found 48 ,1972-D 1979-D uncirculated LMC's( someone had released them in to the wild) and then I found this one,It's been a great while since I'd found any Doubled Die CRH. Need a confirmation, I think it is a DDO-004 what do you think?.It was not easy shooting pics of it because it has a deep rainbow toning on both sides and that hides a lot of details, I think I've got what was needed.
Thanks

Looks like a match to me. Great find! It is far more difficult to find the Denver doubled dies for these years.

Thanks E/V

CoinHunter, thanks, D mints are dominant in midwest ( suburb of Chicago) so that's what mostly circulate's around here.

Same here. West coast-all we get are Denver's. I have lost hope for any of the big philly doubled dies. Hopefully I can find an '83-D FS-101 with how abundant '83-D's are over here. Best of luck with your hunts as well.

hello Chase007,

I think the doubling looks closer to DDO-001.

Mintmark location (probably need more of a side by side for this)
Die scratches over R in LIBERTY.

Die markers might be the ticket.

Either variety is an excellent find; congrats

EDIT: changed DDR-001 to DDO-001

Thanks levelsofmadnes,

What got me thinking of the Die 04 was that I could not see the matching doubling on the B and E of the LIBERTY as seen on Die 001, so I don't know!

Thanks coop, that's what I tried to go by, but the MM locations are pretty close between the #1 and #4. So when I get home I'll take another shot of full date and MM similar to those you've posted and will compare.

See they are all the same width. So when you look at 001, it is further SE than 004.

Looks like DDO-001. That one has pretty good die markers in all stages so should be able to match it up.

What a great find!

Out of curiosity, could we see two pictures, one showing the entire obverse, one showing the entire reverse?

I have a 1972-D DDO-001. A big marker to look for on this variety is die scratches in front of Lincoln's face in the fields.
