It came out of this one:

I submitted it and it came back in this one. I probably should have sent it back to PCGS. I was disappointed with the grade. Oh well.

Nice! At least you noticed the variety and got it correctly attributed, although it is a shame it got a grade lower. Cool coin never the less!

Edit: you could probably cross it over for a smaller fee than a crackout/re-slab, but you risk getting the same grade again.

I know, I thought about that. We'll see.

Edit: I'm still looking for a MS 39-S to fill the empty hole!

Is the '39-S a tough coin to find in MS? I thought the later 30's weren't too difficult to find in MS......but maybe I'm wrong.

This is why I stick to varieties

Edit: looking at mintage (2.6 million) I can see why it would be a tough coin.

No, they're out there. The ones I'm seeing are MS65, 66 & 67's. I don't want to pay $250 or $400. I'm looking for a lower graded MS60, 61, 62 or 63. I don't want to pay much more then $100. I'm just waiting for the right one to come along.

Edit: Most of the ones I see, seem to be high grades.

Do you search ebay? There might be an example you can find there for not too much. If I happen to come across an example (that's not going to break the bank) sometime that I think you might be interested in, do you want me to PM you? I do frequent ebay searches and I can keep an eye out for you.

Thanks! I'm watching ebay as well. I have a few I'm watching. I just need the right looking coin at the right price. If you happen to see anything you could PM me or post it here. I subscribed to your thread. Thanks!

No problem. I'll keep an eye out. With that being said, are you are watching the PCGS MS-63 on ebay right now? It's up to $19.50....

Yes, I'm watching that auction to see what it goes for. I usually purchase "Buy it now". Surprisingly, I've contacted sellers in the past and have offered less and many have accepted my offer. I'm looking at prices close to Gray Sheet.

Sounds good. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for those, and I'll post any findings here if I do. Thanks again, best of luck!
