Stopped off at a couple of parks on the drive home from Venice LA. Off to a coin show today but will take the detector along in case I see somewhere to search

That's one of the rarer british pounds, an 88 if I am not mistaken. Very rarely if ever see them in circulation.

Very nice Richard. Do you keep totals of your finds? Was curious of how many coins you have found this year.

We add everything up at the end of the year. I have $150.32 in my finds account at the bank. About $100 waiting to be rolled. We have spent $63 on pinpointers and $45 on some headphones out of the account this year. At the end of the year we cash out the account and buy silver. There is 47 ounces of silver bars and rounds in the silver tin from last year. The better jewelry I sell on ebay and add the proceeds to the account. The junk stuff sits in a bucket waiting for me to decide what to do with it. The pull tabs and foil are in another bucket waiting for it to get heavy enough to cash in. As is the copper.

That's a nice sum. I'm sitting at 451.00 right know. How do you like the pinpointer? Does it really make a difference in locating the item. I don't have one, but have been thinking about getting one. Once in a while it is hard to find the coin, but most of the time I really don't have a problem finding it. I try to hunt with as little gear as possible.

Later that day, Sunday, I went out & it came true (thanks, Mel). I hit a 14 kt kids ring at a school yard.

My wife likes the pinpointer for finding coins in the dirt. She does not like to spend the time pinpointing with the detector. I find it too time consuming to use the pinpointer except on Cents in mud where it does save some time. Not sure its worth the $30 odd dollars you can spend on a good used one though. The headphones however are great.
