I have my own thoughts, however I thought it would be interesting to get some additional feedback. NGC XF Details Corrosion. Strong features on the coin. Problem free in XF40 it's a $2,000 coin. What's your best "guestimate" on value? We know the grade, we know the problem, I have my own idea of it's worth, what's yours?

Assuming it's not a rare variety, at least $200, up to 400.

$950? The corrosion is bad, but it doesn't obstruct the detail that much. I can see the seller asking a lot.

I'd guess something in the $600+ range, though it's not something I'd want to own.

Gonna go with what Frog said, $600-$800 would probably be what I would guess retail would be.

I'd say around $500.

So the story goes this coin was won via auction for $375 with fees. I thought a fair market value was $500, however it would be the first "problem coin" in the collection and I decided against it. For me I'd rather have a G-4 or AG3 than a "Details" XF. Just my thing I guess. Thanks for everyone's comments!

Never wrong to pass on a details coin. Personally, I'd rather have that coin than a straight graded G-4 for the same price. I think the price was fair, but I would have passed, too.
