I've been collecting on the amateur level for a while but don't know much about errors.
I found two quarters in pocket change today that were interesting. This one has two marks one on each side at the upper point of the 1 on the date and just to the left of the bird ?

Thanks

@rc, those marks by the number 1 in the date are gouges from when another coin hit this one with its reeded edge (not a mint error).

Added: and yep the same thing goes for the pair of gouges to the left of the feathers.

Most likely not from being in a roll, but rather jouncing around in a bag or even while in the mint hopper immediately after being struck.

Ok the outer edge of another coin, what are the odds of that happening without damaging the 1 !
