Hi, need opinions, I am kind of new to VAM's - I diligently researched this link below on ebay today. I seen alot going on with this morgan - type 100-1 - but I seen other attributes such as the concave space by left feathers on reverse and a pimple on the left part of the D in Dollar...also the short arrow shaft and the cross marks on the arrow shaft. I knew a lot was going on here and from my VAM research, I thought this could be a new variety, because it had attributes from at least 3 VAMS. Triple blossoms is the only VAM of this date that has a PF of 10....is this guy completely speculating on this being a new VAM....how could this be worth over $1200 ungraded? Please help. I need your opinions!!

Leroy assigns the interest and rarity number when he catalogs the VAM. Back in 1965 I2/R4 was his best guess. The 1878 V166 is an I5/R7 coin. BTW, I was the first bid on this one and hoped to jump in at the end ... had to let it go.

The V166 is a rare bird, hence the selling price.
