Hello folks.

I have this 2016 quarter that seems to be either dipped in something, severely etched. Can somebody help me understand this!

There was an issue with one die that broke down totally for that design. (extreme die wear)

But yours looks like it was soaked in acid that weakened both sides of the coin.
