Medieval denarius Grade?
It has a fine water tone, but I'm not sure how to grade these coins on market value..

Nice coin, although the weight (1.27 g) is low. Nominal weight for this type of denier is 1.70 g, although the average weight is around 1.55 g. Examples below 1.35 g are rare but not non-existent. I don't see anything else with the coin that raises concerns, maybe the weight is just a little to the low end.

I guess a value for this coin, considering that it is a bit worn but the legends still fully readable, would be around 1500-2000 €.

I would guess somewhere in the VF+ range.

I agree with @erafjel. A sharp EF specimen sold at CNG recently for $3500 (and is nw for sale on V Coins for $7,000!), and an MS61 example sold at Heritage last year for $3360.

Lovely coin, very sought after ruler. If it is already yours, lucky you!

I don't have a photo of this coin before it went to a restoration specialist, but it looked somewhat like another coin I found. Like the photo below.Maybe thats one of the weightloss reasons.

I don't think so. The Charlemagne coin you are showing has strong design details that do not suggest to me weight lost due to corrosion.
I think the two possibilities are an underweight flan (planchet) or not authentic, but as mentioned by @erafjel, evidence of forgery is not obvious, but I am not an expert on these types.
I wonder if this would be a situation to consider submitting it to NGC?

If it is a forgery it's still medieval. It was a metal detecting find from a carolingian layer

My thought about submitting it was two reasons:
1. authentication
2. in the lucky event that it gets an XF grade, you have a $3,000 coin, and it is well worth the cost of submission
