I just picked up a lot of German coins, and while most of them have a value written on them, some do not.

Here are photos of two particular 1950 50 Pfennig G coins. I was doing a bit of research and found a link, https://www.NGCcoin.com/price-guide...duid-1317586 which states that:

"The 1950G dated coin was restruck without authorization by a mint official using genuine dies - quantity unknown. Mintmark J also with year "9" (instead of 1949)- Rare."

which makes it pretty valuable. One of the coins I have has a "Type 2" label on it. I couldn't find what this means, but when I align the two coins side by side, and flip them when the two ladies are aligned, the 50 on the back on the "Type 2" coin seems to be angled.

The other coin, looks to have something pressed above the leaves....is it a 9? I can't really tell.

Photos are below.

Sorry to give you bad news. What the original owner called type 2 is Krause K109.1. The rare one is K 104. The inscriptions are different. While the pictures are not the best it does not look like AU. As far as I can tell that is just circulation damage above the leaves.

Thanks oriole. How about the one coin with the angled back?

The grade on the 2x2 looks correct. Price wise, you can find these with no trouble in most dealer's 25c, 10 for $1 junk boxes.
