This coin, worth approximately 1 US cent, contains over 14 won worth of copper (it is currently 65% copper, 35% zinc). Evidently some are melting them for the copper content. Another article said the coin costs 38 won for korea to mint them. Found this interesting given our past Cc discusssions re copper in pre 82 cents and current mint production costs.
