Another example of heavy die wear. Not a a RPM. (Ended in 1990).

Last possible RPM's is 1989.

RPMs happened because the mint mark was added to the die by hand, and occasionally would have one or more of the strikes out of alignment with the first. In 1990, the mint began adding the mintmarks to the dies in the hubbing process instead, ending the possibility for RPMs.

Thanks for the info, it is very informative. I got curious when I first saw the Mint Mark and I thought it was a RPM because of the appearance of the slanted image under the D.
