What ever happens to old plaques and trophies that the various clubs award as prizes? Does any one recycle them?

For our coin club, a couple of "retired" trophies are still sitting around. When our Literary Award trophy filled up and a new trophy was made, the winner of the last one got to keep it.

The "new trophy" was actually a recycled trophy from a defunct Masonic lodge. The nameplates and fittings were all removed and new ones for the coin club were attached. I seem to recall the fellow who did the work had a terrible time trying to get the new varnish to "take" on the old trophy backing.

Thanks Sap, I would guess a lot of them get trashed.
