This is the second time that the seller has posted this.
"Original Uncleaned UNC" is the description but I think
that it is a high XF/low AU.
The price, $59.00 (plus $3.50), is appropriate for an AU.
Seller has 22,000+ positive and 8 negative ratings.
There are a LOT of 1916-S being offered but my eyes keep coming back to this one.
Seller is theconsignmenthub (on ebay)
What say you all?

I think it's certainly possible the pics are hiding something, but at the very least its probably got the light of a thousand suns shining on it to bring out any luster it has. That may explain the unnatural looking surfaces.

I agree with your assessment that it's not "UNC", looks like it could be a nice AU-58 if it is original.
Rest in Peace

As soon as I read who the seller was I new the answer to your question without even looking at the coin .
Run away as fast as you can from this guy and don't look back . He's known for putting out crap and beefing up his grades to deceive .

Nowhere near Unc - I'd say EF-45. Worth maybe $40 tops.

Yeah, surfaces don't look original. But........if the return policy is good, it might only cost you 2 way shipping to look at it.

edit: Free returns, only costs $3.50 to look at it. Not UNC though.

I'd go with T-BOP's suggestion. I really hate ebay's feed back system ever since my Son told me how he and his friends would send in all kinds of those regardless of what is real.

Is the "6" supposed to look like that?

I compared the "6" to my example and can see no problem.
But your consensus is to pass and keep away.
I haven't bought a dime in several years and I am
not about to make any false steps at this point.
The 1916-S is a common enough date and one will come my way when the time comes.
Thank you all for the opinions.

I'd venture to call it an AU50, AU55. The forehead hair detail, the lack of more detail on the oak leaves and softening of the dentils. It has some definite mint luster spots showing despite the less than optimal photos. Overall, a nice looking San Francisco issue. A buy price would be about average for the grade.
