I would love your opinions on this one please, found in change, has decent wear but not worn down, and the edge is smooth, like it was never reeded. The wear marks on the face flies onto the edge too so it's not perfectly smooth and has scratches on it like the sides. Can't see any ridges on the edge at all, super curious if it left the mint like this or is PMD please?

There was a time when the RAM issued into circulation lots of 10 cent coins that had very weak edge milling.
Just to wast a bit of time, I filed the faint edge milling off a few of them completely, then burnished the edge on a lapidary machine. Looked quite convincing!

This looks the same. If it is, then deliberate PMD

Should weigh a tiny bit less than standard.
Should be a tiny bit less in diameter.

I still fool around with pocket change occasionally, doing all sort of minor things to them,
and re release them back into circulation.

If nothing else, it gives me a bit more insight on how to identify fake error coins.
And to be far more positive in identifying genuine error coins.

usually you would need something to happen to the edge (eg tilted edge) for it to be id as an error in this case I don't think so, however can't see the observer (heads) side so not sure (but very likely PMD).
