I need a bit of help with some information. I own a 1831 Matron Head Large Cent that (in my opinion) has the details of EF-40 BUT has minor rim damage that does not effect detail other than the ribs around the edge of the coin (and it only affects around 1-2 ribs, there is a total of 3 'dings' one of either side when facing obverse as well as one at the top. I ask for help as I need the extra opinions and help due to the value of the coin in his condition.

While photos would result in better answers, as to the dings you've mentioned they shouldn't be a problem. If confined to the rim and not more of a gouge than ding.
