Hey yall, I don't know Jack crap about coins, so I was hoping you guys could help me out. I can't upload an image because all I have is my phone but it takes too high res photos. So I was hoping this description could help you kind gentlemen out;

Completely normal looking quarter on the "tails" side, minted in 1978, heads side is where it gets weird. There is a big c stamped on Washington's neck. Starts at the jaw line, ends just at collarbone. Also, I don't know if this is common or even out of the ordinary for coins this old but the mint mark is barely visible. Like I can barely make out a letter, it just looks like a dot to me.

Thank you guys for the help!

Sounds like just a counterstamp done by someone after minting.

" Like I can barely make out a letter, it just looks like a dot to me"...Yep, that would be a D for Denver and the C does sound like a counter-stamp

Most of us here only use cameras in our phones, and yeah, they are high res, but with the tutorial you can get it down to our photo needs. We'd love to see your coin!

to the CCF!

to CCF. It does sound like a counter stamped coin, PMD. Try using the free image optimizer here on CCF to post pics. You can also use the search box,upper left of page for info on counter stamp coins.
