This isn't really a TPG question, it's a TPG slab question. I couldn't figure anywhere else to put it. (Help, Moderator?)
I have several TPG slabs with scratches, or worse, scuffs. I only notice the ones over the coin, but some scuffs obscure or distort features.
I have never understood how they got that way. Based on accidentally knocking a few on a hard floor 3 feet below, the slabs seem hard as nails. I have never actually damaged one. Unfortunately, many prior owners of my slabbed coins have not had the same good experience.
I was just reading an article on coin photography in Penny-Wise, the journal of the Early American Coppers society. It recommended using Slab-Renew to repair damage and yield better pictures.
I haven't previously heard of this product, but if it works I've got plenty of places to use it.
Any comments on this product? I don't want to make things worse. I am very bad with my hands and would not want a product that is difficult to use.
Thanks!

There are a few products out there like this. I use Plast-X, available at Amazon -- it works well for light scratches and lines; less well for deeper gouges. Here's a before/after comparison for one of my pieces:

I imagine the stuff made for headlight lenses would probably work well, too.

I use the 3-part Novis scratch remover/cleaner.
Requires a bit of elbow grease but works well except for particularly deep scratches.
