Purchasing From Apmex. Is Paying The Premium For BU Worth It Over Au?

jcd390 Valued Member United States 50 Posts	Posted 05/13/2020 6:07 pm I am currently building a set of New Orleans Mint Morgan dollars. Recently I purchased a few BU coins from APMEX and was very pleased with my purchase. However, I noticed that the AU coins in some cases were either half the cost of the BU or two-third the cost. Do you guys/girls believe paying the extra money on the BU coin is worth it or should I just purchase the AU coin? My goal for the collection was to buy AU or better but I somewhat feel that the BU is too high of premium. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! Report this Post to the Staff

I'm doing an AU/BU set of Indian Head cents and sometimes I stick with AU when the cost is much lower. Other times the BU coin has nicer visual appeal. I buy by the coin not the grade.
