I recently purchased 9 Centenarios. However 3 of them were off. They all tested as gold by acid and electric testing spectrometer. The final testing was accurate. My question is, are there any known differences between the coins that would be that distinct? Please and thank you!

"Off"... I guess (riddle me this) you're looking at the variation in edge lettering?

What years are the pieces in question? If some/all are 1947, you probably have some of the restrikes mixed in. Would make sense that the edging could vary slightly among those, but I don't know that for certain.

Communication is important. Please state your concerns precisely. Stating that three of your coins are "OFF" only hints at what your concerns are. While we have many members with exceptional coin knowledge, we cannot help you if you fail to tell us exactly what your concerns are.

In your case, the photos you provided did hint at your question. In THAT you did well.

Agree, please be specific about what you mean by "off".

I agree that they appear to be 'off'; shallow edge impression does look suspect, now that the question has been raised.
Spectrometer and acid testing only examine the surface.
Ultrasonic testing justified in this case.

I hope I am wrong, but
I cannot dismiss the possibility of a heavy gold covering over a tungsten** core fake.
They should have the same ping tone against known genuine, not others in this group.

**Tungsten has the same density as gold.

OK the width and diameter of the 3 coins were off by about 1/32" the weight was about .1 gram less. The lettering on the edge is clearly different than the others. There are visible differences on the strike itself. We went ahead and had them assayed and they tested as the correct gold content. So my question would be, are there know variations of this particular coin that justify the discrepancies? Restrikes should use the same die, right?

A thick gold covering should assay as correct.
