This 1999 P LMC shows doubling on the hair details behind the ear and inside the ear as well. It may not be a doubled ear but it is definitely an interesting cent to view through a loupe. The very last image is from another 1999 P LMC that I had and used for comparison. The lobe itself looks a lot like the 2006 DDO-003 ear lobe.

I have definitely seen this before but unfortunately what you are pointing out is just part of the design.

These slight details are usually obscured by die abrasion and deterioration so not many coins will actually show them. You have a nice early die state coin.

You can see in the last photo, the comparison photo, a lot of the finer detail is abraded away.

Definitely a much more fresh die. The bottom of the lobe looks a lot like this,

which is why I questioned it.

Doubling like that of 2006 DDO-003 would show on other parts of the design. That one is not one of the "centrally located" DDs. It shows mainly as extra thickness and distortion and very slight separation throughout much of the design.

A "centrally located" doubled ear would have only affect a portion of the ear and sometimes the beard details, but the second ear would clearly be separate from the main one. Like 2006 DDO-004.

The ear and beard are both affected.
