Need help on this United States Treasury Department 1907 War settlement warrant.

I find plenty of instances in old documents on old war settlement warrants no# XXXXX. But having hard time understanding what they actually are. I also cannot find a single picture of one. Included is a ½ picture of mine modified so reproduction is difficult. Any help would be appreciated!!

If this needs to be in a different forum ,I apologize, this is my first post here .

Thanks

I'm assuming it is some sort of payment from the Spanish American war of 1898. I believe checks were all called warrants by the govt back then. Disputed/underpaid pension amount or something similar.

A check is an order upon your account at a bank.

A warrant is an order upon a government treasury.

Not sure why you are concerned about reproduction.

As others have noted, a warrant is simply a type of government check. They are not common but also not widely collected.

With an ancestry account you may be able to track down some info on the payee.

It is not a pension claim as those were handled by the Department of the Interior not the War Department.

As member lettow mentioned above, why does potential reproduction concern you ?

Thanks for the remarks. I got a better understanding now. I also have now seen a second warrant like mine thanks to this post. This one also from Washington DC is signed by Assistant Treasury Dept from a different city.

I know that there were thousands of these printed but this week was the first one I saw on the internet and now a second of this type. I am wondering if these were not cashed in because of the low amounts on each and if the government destroys these after a while after cashed.

I bought it https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDet...lid=53381378 at this action which was by itself with no other notes or warrents. It started low and then with an impulse of mine I thought it might be valuable. I'm sure it worth what I paid for but no more. (Isn't how auctions work.) I don't collect these but like buying things and reselling to feed my addiction to the coins I desire.

I didn't want somebody selling "copies" if I resell it. That is why I was worried by reproduction. I know mine is real.

Again, Thanks for the help.
