I'm new to this error coin stuff but I received this coin back in change from a local store and was wondering if its an actual error or just someone's handy work.
Interesting. You'll probably have to weigh it. It should be 5.67 grams. It's more than likely the work of somebody who got bored, but I would keep it anyway.
I don't have a scale that measures that low at home but I do at work. Just from holding it in my hand it feels very light compared to a normal quarter.
Sorry but in my opinion it is not an error. It looks like one side of the coin was removed with a grinder. Apparently the coin was spinning and you can see the grinding marks going around the coin from edge to center. This is post mint damage.
No problem. That's what this site is for. You should wait for some other opinions before doing anything with the coin but I'm pretty sure this is right. Also welcome to the forum!
