I think they are die chips? Low grade but a rather wild appearance.

If they are raised and part of the coin, I wouldn't call those die chips, a damaged die would be more like it. I've never seen anything like it if is from the die, worth posting in the errors forum.

Yes definitely raised and part of the coin. I'll try to snap some more photos tomorrow.

Kind of looks like weld spatter. It probably would stick/meld with the coin, with copper having a lower melting point. Could have been on a weld table...

Looking at the new picture, it's PMD. Agree with wide, that was my first thought without better pictures....now I'm sure.

If it was an error, it would happen with some frequency and I've NEVER seen a coin like yours that wasn't PMD. This sort of thing doesn't happen with the dies.

For the raised area to the left of the hair, there is what looks like a significant die crack adjacent to it that I saw under a loupe. It wasn't immediately obvious on the other photos.

On the reverse, there look like two die chips to the right of the left wheat stalk, and one on the right wheat stalk. There is also an area of raised metal from the center of the T in UNITED through the top of the F in OF.
