Greetings:
Need some help in sorting mints for the 1968 & 1969 dime mints. Krause shows some stylized pictures. When I look at the reeding under magnifcation they all look the same. Is there another key to determine if the coin was minted in Philadelphia?
Thanks for the help.

Starting in 1968 the mintmark is on the obverse right above the date. D for Denver, S for San Francisco, and no mintmark for Philadelphia.

Greetings: Sorry for misleading everyone, since I used the Canadian forum, I failed to state that I was looking for information on the 1968 & 1969 Canadian dimes which were minted in both Philadelphia and Ottawa.
Thanks to the brave soul that ventured a reply to what appeared to be a silly question.

hi tepritts. I have a good image to use for determining the differences if you can wait a minute or 2. :)

Ah--that's very similar to this diagram for 1968 10c: And, I also check 1969 10c for the rare large date--there must be more out there :

You know, believe it or not, years ago I had a couple of those Large Date ten cents, and spent them, I can remember thinking, maybe I should keep them. I wonder if any are still floating around Oh! sorry tepritts... Welcome to the Forum.

Quote: I had a couple of those Large Date ten cents, and spent them Oh, I hope not! They're quite valuable. I once thought I had one, but after a frantic search I realized it was a ' 68 (same numeral style). Here's a better shot of one which despite damage, sold for $11,500 in 2006. I keep looking...

yep. you never forget when you let the good ones get away. and mine was in really good shape. It had slight wear but no dings or scratches. Think about it everytime I sort coins and still hit every junk silver bin I can find at flea markets on the off chance I might find another. Kind of like hoping lightening will strike twice.

Coindexter, I pull a lot of info from the book "Canadian coins and their varieties" by Pierre Charest.
