Ok, I know this is not a money coin but was so strange, I had to put it out there for comment. Notice, above the LIBERTY there is a strange piece of metal that looks like something was trying to print there. Thoughts?

Giving my opinion working off your last photo, I think it's most likely PMD. Looking at the top half portion of the area in question, it looks like a gouge which has forced the lower half upward. Also take a closer look at the 2 in the date and the motto to make sure it may or may not be DDO-005 on Varietyvistas site......
