This coin was part of a roman provincial lot. It is 22mm at its widest point and 4mm thick. I apologize, I dont have the weight. I would really appreciate any information about it.

First thought is an Islamic copper of some sort.

Yikes, not much left on this one and if @bobL is stuck, then there is not much hope. Here is what I see. On the first side, there is an eight-pointed star with several objects inside (joined together they kinda look like a bodybuilder flexing his biceps...) perhaps including a sun. This is surrounded by a pearled border with perhaps some Arabic/Persian writing between that and the edge of the coin. On the second side, this coin might have been double struck, but it looks more to me like there are two, coaxial pearled borders with writing in the center and perhaps a decorative design in between the borders.
