OK, thanks. There does appear to be another letter under it by looking at the bottom SW start of the B. They start at different levels it appears

All I'm seeing is circulation damage (ticks/nicks/dings) on a 85 year old coin--made of copper, a rather soft metal.

BTW, the first two photos are quite good.
