On a capped die strike, the obverse rims are different looking. Instead of being rounded, they are more saucer like:
1973-Lincoln-Is-This-Considered-A-Capped-Die
Note the obverse rim and the reverse rim? Note how the reverse is rounded? The obverse one is more dished outwards because of the die cap on the die preventing the rounding of the rim.
