Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 05/31/2020 10:35 pm Just environmental damage. It may have been in the bottom of metal can or box that then filled with water. The coin has picked up the rust over the clad layers. Most missing clad strikes are one side of coin only and the clad falls off after the planchet is punched, but before the strike. This causes the planchet to be under weight by about a gram and makes the strike weak. Coins with both clad layers missing are VERY rare. While you can have a clad coin rolled to the proper thickness with no clad layers, they are also very rare. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? So it is not a missing clad issue on your coin: Note the color on the coin below. Also not because of the missing clad layer, the strike is weak on both sides of the coin. Just a normal homeless that was taken it. Keep in your pocket and watch the red go away, turn black in color and silver colored on the highest devices.
