Seems this token is fairly common, but I was intrigued when I first read the "not One Cent" on the reverse. Anyway I learned that C Doscher was a Grocer in New York City, and probably a successful one seeing as he had lots of tokens.
The 1880 census shows a Charles C Doscher aged 44 living on Elm St, New York, a retail grocer, born in Germany; with his wife and family.
There's also a C Doscher, in the 1870 census for New York, aged 38 with his family, whose occupation seems to be Grocer-Dealer. He was aged 38, born in Germany but clearly not the same person as the one above.
