The size of the date and letters are reduced, so I'm thinking it's MD.

@ sam a stepped md would show a larger darker shadow between the 2 no?

Great images, but just Machine Doubling. Are these all of the same coin? The MD is on the left side of Liberty and right side of date. (which doesn't happen often, unless it is two different coins images?) Note all the devices are normal outside diameters, but the MD reduced the width of the devices.

The water spots on the Liberty area confirm that this is the same coin.   Not the overall size of the devices are normal. Just the MD reduced those areas. No hub doubling, just strike alteration after the strike.

The more the eyes can take in without moving from one place to another, the better you will see perspective. Once to more two two different locations, the loss is unnoticed. Side by sides help a lot.
