1962 D LMC Is This A RPM?

Question for you. Do you know what die flow lines are? They are the lines thae develop from the contant movement of metal for push the planchets metal into the areas the dies want it to move. As the dies begin to age, you see the lines on the open fields. The always move towards the closest rim direction as the metal is pushed in that direction. On your coin, note these lines on the fields. Not the lines all are moving that area a certain direction. So on the mintmark area you are looking at, it is a die flow line. Not a RPM. The lines are small and get larger as the die ages, but the RPMs are from the punch on the die and are much wider than that. So what you are seeing is a die flow line.

Well according to strike, note all the die flow lines on your coin are point that way. Note where die flow lines start. They start on the outside edge of the coin. They move according to the direction they are pushed continually the life of the die. Note the outside edge of the devices facing the rims. They are also show this die flow starting point.
