Hi all,

As many of you know I'm trying to put together a resource website for The coin collecting world.

I'm trying to locate a way to find dealers by state. So I can combine that into my website. Anyone have a way they do this?

Also if this violates and CCF rules please remove.

Other than search engines, online yellowpages, or word of mouth, I really don't know any other way to find dealers.

I think having a resource website dedicated to finding dealers is a great idea. Good luck puting it together.

I don't think there is any pages that list coin dealers by state, it would be cool to find one though

As a start, here is a link to a list of the 1100+ PCGS Authorized Dealers. I have no idea if you can use this on your web site, but here it is:

The ANA dealer directory has a lookup by state, zip code, name, or specialty.

As you can see your a little to late with such a listing. Aside from those mentioned you could also just Google coin dealers or the same on Yahoo. The problem with such listings are some of those dealers go out of buisness, some are not to be trusted, some are fantatic, some are just dealers, etc. Having a listing of possible thousands of dealers would be a great thing if everyone that tried it could add their comments about such dealers so there would be running and continuous evaluation of them. Also, their addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc.
I'd like to see one with customer recommendations.

I also want to add at the same time a rating system could cause problems. The legal issues a negative rating could open up could be a major factor. I have seen a few forums be under the gun for negative comments

IMO, the ANA directory is probably the best way to find an honest dealer- they not only have to adhere to the Member Code of Ethics but also the Dealer Code of Ethics. PNG is a specific dealers association comprised mainly of high end dealers and experts and they have a Code of Ethics as well.
This is not to say that the only honest dealers are members of the ANA and that all ANA/PNG members are perfect. There are plenty of other perfectly honest and fair dealers who are not affiliated with the ANA or PNG and it is possible for the ANA or PNG to have a few lousy dealers too. However, your chances of getting a "bad apple" off that list are much smaller than picking a random dealer that you know nothing about.
