A new Q. David Bowers book "My Life in Rare Coins: And Other Adventures" is due for release August 18, 2020. Looks to be a hefty book coming in at at 600 pages at 1.7 lbs. and will have contributions by noted and award winning author Joel Orosz. I'm really looking forward to this one a lot. Dave always has great stories and this book should retell some of the better coin dealer tales. The following description was found on Amazon's pre-release product page I found: "The Sage of Wolfeboro" . . . "The Dean of American Numismatics" . . . With thousands of articles and more than 60 books to his credit, Q. David Bowers is recognized as the most prolific numismatic writer of this or any generation. In 1953 he launched a remarkable career as a professional numismatist, and in the sixty-plus years since has likely attracted more collectors to the hobby than any single other person (perhaps rivaled only by R.S. Yeoman of Red Book fame). Now, in this deeply personal and uplifting biography, penned by the man himself, the life story of Dave Bowers is told in richly illustrated detail. It's a story every collector, dealer, auctioneer, writer, and researcher can learn from. Bowers explores his humble beginnings and lays out his rise to the heights of the hobby, sharing stories and insight to inspire and delight numismatists of all ages. My Life in Rare Coins and Other Adventures takes the reader behind the scenes of America's most famous coin dealerships, onto the bourse and into the auction rooms of the most famous sales, through the hallways and offices of the United States Mint, and around the United States and the globe. Throughout the book, Bowers shares the philosophy and guiding principles that made him successful, and gives advice on writing, researching, buying, selling, and enjoying every aspect of the King of Hobbies and the Hobby of Kings. The book will be priced at $99.95 USD ISBN-10: 0794848303 ISBN-13: 978-0794848309 "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Feldman - "And read it" - Me 2013! QDB is definitely one of my favorite numismatic authors - I've always enjoyed his style and own enough of his titles to fill several shelves on one of my bookcases!

It looks lkike Amazon has the preprint price set at $99. I love his books but that price tag may nix this for me.

But at 600 pages it should be one of his larger works and since this one is on his own life, I expect it to sell out the first printing rather quickly no matter the higher price. Some of his special edition books have sold for over $1000 and many of his books are in the $100+ range these days. At $99 I still think it will be a bargain, and with any free shipping you might get well worth it due to the book weighing in too. My Two Cents worth.

Just a little update, I still have not heard anything on this volume yet, Amazon cancelled my pre-order, yet it is again up on the website under a different link than I originally posted, just do a search from the ISBN number to find it. I think I will wait this time, until there is more solid information before placing a pre-order. Anyways I'd prefer to buy from Wizard Coin Supply or direct from Stack's/Bowers when it finally comes out. I understand Dave Bowers has several other books in the works at the moment and that is what is lowing this one down, contractual books for Whitman Press for the RedBook Series. Hope he can get this one done sooner than later. It's one book I'm most looking forward to reading, in a very long time.
