The quarantine has finally been lifted here in my part of Pennsylvania, so I took this past weekend to visit my local coin shops, with mask and all! One of the dealers had this Feuchtwanger Cent and it was reasonably priced, so I purchased it. It has a very nice design with quite a bit of detail left. What are your thoughts on the grade of this coin? I say around the VF range, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nice old Feuchtwanger!

Looks like variety 4-E (R3) but others can confirm. There is a lamination on the obverse. It's hard to grade these tokens because of inconsistent striking. I would also say it is likely in the VF range based on the reverse.

Thanks!

Bump111 - I compared it to an online variety guide and it does appear to be a 4-E, so that's pretty neat. Being a rarity 3, would that add any extra value or is it one of the more common varities?

The rarity guide is based on the "Hard Times Tokens" reference guide. I don't have the guide in front of me and can't give you population estimates right now.

A lot of these tokens are R1 and R2, so R3 is less common. Rarest Feuchtwanger I can remember is in the R6 range. Value is relative and I'd think a VF R3 Feuchtwanger would bring somewhere between $125 and $175.
