Looks like a rotated D was placed in Lincolns beard.
I can superimpose a D from another coin over it and it is just about perfect. What do you all think.

@rr1, first welcome to CCF. Second, while that mark is about the right size and shape of a D mintmark, it is just a gouge that has displaced metal in that shape.

With Spence. Just a damaged coin. The metal got gouged, making it look like a D.

The answer to your question is: NO. The "mintmark" in Abe's beard is not a long lost mintmark the mint has been searching for. (However, feel free to use it as you wish.)
