Very disturbing! I've just had a survey from ebay with lots of questions about my experiences as an ebay seller. It was very long and many of the sections were of no relevance to me, but I completed it. At the end there was a section for my own comments, so I stated that sellers ought to be able to leave negative and neutral feedback about buyers. Hope ebay executives don't target me now!

The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. I think the main issue with ebay is basically they are a monopoly and have no serious competitors in these online auction / collectibles arena so they can dictate terms and we just have to suck it up.

For ebay to have senior management involved in behavior like that is unthinkable. Everyone involved needs some jail time.

@bobby131313 I think that ebay is a competitor of Amazon, but they are doing a bad job as they try to be " Amazon". Instead ebay should stay what it used to be, a place where seller and buyer can meet and not a bad Amazon copy. As they say "Don't try to be an apple if you are a banana, you'll always be a second rate apple." It is as simple as that.

ebay and Amazon are indirect competitors. Both are monopolies which I have no issue with monopolies per se as long as the market is a 'level playing field'. But the playing field is not level as they are both subsidized by government and its agencies i.e. ultimately it's your money financing this. Once the new Google Shopping is rolled out over the next 9-12 months all that is left is the illusion of choice. Why no free market competition in regards to online payment processors? There was up until 2003-2004. Why did it stop? And who anointed the few winners? And, yes, I am not super pleased with the current status quo.

The good news is that ebay will now change to better. The bad news is that such things probably happen in other big companies which are holding key-places. It is a general problem of today´s society. Often such things happen within companies without the knowledge of the management and for all kind of reasons, such as personal enrichment and suppression of the competition within a marketplace. I was harassed by a few buyers of mine which were very rude to me without a reason. I know that these were one-hit buyers who came from nowhere and were just rude. One of them tried to steal a coin and told me "This happens because of you writing so much, it is your own fault my Friend." I do not know what this person was referring to, but it felt awkward. I reported them to ebay and a rude comment was removed from the record. Still the negative feedback is there.

Quote: Often such things happen within companies without the knowledge of the management and for all kind of reasons, such as personal enrichment and suppression of the competition within a marketplace. One of the most shocking things is apparently the 'order' for this came directly from the top from the former CEO, which is truly abhorrent. This is a publicly traded company with millions of users, not some sort of mafia syndicate. Quote below from the Wired article: Quote:Former ebay CEO Devin Wenig also left the company that month. While he isn't named in the criminal complaint, ebay confirmed that he is "Executive 1," who allegedly gave the initial order to "take her down" (which was then relayed to Baugh by "Executive 2"). The company also confirmed Wednesday that "Executive 2" is former chief communications officer Steve Wymer. Bloomberg News first reported Wymer's connection. Neither is charged with any crime.

I guess I lucked out. All ebay did to me was kick me off (for life) on all their chat boards like "Soapbox". I was recommending a boycott by sellers because of new and higher fees - this was years ago and I still cannot visit their chat boards.
